Synopsis

In the Nahua community of Zoquitipa in the Huasteca potosina, José González, an elderly musician, fights to preserve the Danza de las Varitas (stick dance) along with a group of local women as they struggle against ethnic discrimination inside and outside the municipality of Tamazunchale, and the loss of the Nahuatl language and traditions by the new generations who teach them to speak in Spanish.
