Synopsis
The Yuqui indigenous people live on the banks of the Chimoré River. In the past they were nomadic, never farmers, and lived by gathering fruit, hunting and fishing. They did not suffer from disease. Nowadays, they plant a few crops, and continue to gather fruit, hunt and fish. The indigenous Yuquis are in danger of disappearing, the few that remain die from tuberculosis or other diseases brought in from outside. A large number of indigenous people have been killed by people from outside their territory. There is also an unknown number of their people who remain uncontacted.
